Problem Statement / Issue:

In several cases victim families accused the police officers refused to pass medicine to the victims, led to the death of the detainees. Therefore, the current Lockup Rules 1953 must be reformed to protect detainees’ right to health and access to medicine.

Everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of himself and of his family, including food, clothing, housing and medical care and necessary social services (Article 25 of Universal Declaration of Human Rights 1948)

To reform the Lockup Rules Act 1953 to ensure detainees’ right to health, including right to access to medical treatment and medicine
